S.Africa court postpones Zuma penis painting case

A South African court on Thursday postponed a case against two men who defaced a painting showing President Jacob Zuma with his genitals exposed.

Barend la Grange and Louis Mabokela will return to court on September 4 on charges of malicious damage to property after smearing paint over the exposed Zuma styled as Lenin in a Johannesburg gallery.

The pair were caught on camera last month attacking the image in separate incidents in which a red X and black paint were smeared over Zuma’s face and genitalia.

The work by satirical artist Brett Murray, titled “The Spear”, sparked court cases, protests by Zuma’s supporters and forced the gallery to remove it from display and to temporarily pull down its shutters.
