Leaders arrive for African Union meeting on Libya

The African Union’s panel on Libya opened talks Sunday in Pretoria to discuss efforts to end the war, after last month’s visit to Tripoli by South African President Jacob Zuma failed to reach a deal.

The leaders of Mauritania, Uganda and Mali as well as the foreign minister of Congo-Brazzaville met with Zuma as Libyan rebels said they expect to receive an offer from Moamer Kadhafi “very soon” that could end the four-month war.

None of the leaders spoke as they entered the presidential guesthouse in Pretoria for the closed-door discussions.
