Fatalities at South Africa’s mines drop

Concerted safety efforts at South African mines are paying off as the industry works
towards zero harm, particularly in the most dangerous aspects such as falls of
ground, transportation and machinery. The number of deaths has dropped 85% over
the two decades from 1993.
