Twiggy exhibition celebrates her sixtieth birthday

A new display at the National Portrait Gallery celebrates Twiggy’s 60th birthday with portraits by contemporary photographers, among them the acclaimed Norwegian photographer Sølve Sundsbø.

Twiggy, with her iconic haircut, is one of the best-known models of all time. She has worked with many of the world’s leading photographers both as a model and when she went on to embark on a theatrical career. The display at the National Portrait Gallery of over 20 photographs will encompass Twiggy’s life in portraits from the 1970s to the present day. To accompany the display, the National Portrait Gallery will publish the book Twiggy: A Life in Photographs in September.

Sølve Sundsbø, born in 1970, is a Norwegian photographer who lives in London. He is a regular contributor to various magazines and has also shot album covers for the bands Røyksopp and Coldplay as well as shot advertising campaigns for Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci. Best known for his visual experimentation in his work, Sølve Sundsbø is highly respected in the industry.

The exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery will show Sundsbø’s portraits of Twiggy taken in 2008.
