Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs pledged on Tuesday to cooperate with a British probe following US fraud charges which the bank dismissed as "unfounded".
“We believe the SEC’s charges are completely unfounded in law and fact and look forward to cooperating with the FSA,” a London-based spokeswoman said in a statement emailed to AFP.
Britain’s Financial Services Authority (FSA) on Tuesday launched a formal probe into Goldman after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed charges last week over the sale of a type of complex mortgage product blamed for the financial meltdown.
