Young tourist rescued after being trapped in Lagos ravine

tourist ravineA 20-year-old Czech tourist suffered injuries on Sunday morning following a fall “into a 10 to 12-meter ravine” in the Ponta da Piedade area of ??Lagos.

According to Faro’s District Distress Operations Command (CDOS), the warning was given at 11:54. The young woman was promptly rescued and taken to safety. A source on the scene claimed that the tourist was taking pictures when she fell off the cliff in to the ravine.

The young woman’s rescue from the bottom of the ravine was carried out by a rescue team from the Fire Department of Portimão.

Despite having only minor injuries, the girl was taken to hospital after being assisted at the location by INEM members.

Other officials, of the Lagos Firefighters, were also involved in the operation, as well as the National Maritime Authority, which has jurisdiction in this area. In all, 17 operatives participated in the rescue, supported by six vehicles.
