Woman bitten by spider fish at Alvor beach

A 57-year-old woman who suffered a spider fish bite on the beach of Alvor Poente, in Portimão on Saturday, was assisted by the National Maritime Authority.

When you are bitten by the spider fish you may initially think that you have stepped on a rock or a pointed shell. There is initially a mild pain, but it evolves almost immediately to an intense pain, difficult to bear, with changes in the surrounding skin, which becomes red and swollen.

According to the official, the “alert was received through 112, and the elements of the“ SeaWatch ”project moved immediately to the location, where they assisted the victim”. She was able to leave the beach unaided, in just a little mild pain.
