Starting at 9:30 am, the panel members will discuss the birth of the project until its inauguration in 2009. There will also be space for the analysis of the socio-economic contribution of the Via Algarviana to the region, with the participation of the owners of businesses along the route. The moderator will be Fúlvia Almeida, the director of RUA FM.
“I traveled the Via Algarviana” will present the cases of some of those who have walked the 300 kilometre route.
A day of celebration will end with a debate on the future of Via Algarviana, at a roundtable discussion with Filipe Silva, member of the Board of Directors of Tourism of Portugal, João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Region of Tourism and the Algarve Tourism Association, as well as representatives from Albufeira, Alcoutim, Aljezur, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Monchique, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Silves, Tavira and Vila do Bispo Councils.
During the weekend, June 1 and 2, the event “10 years, 10 walks on the Via Algarviana” will be held, with walks organised along various sections of the Route between Alcoutim and Cape St Vicente, Sagres.
The event is sponsored by ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal and the support of partner municipalities, the Cachopo Town Council and the companies GeoWalks & Talks, ProActiveTur, Walkin’Sagres and Zen Trekk.
