UK Nationals Support Project draws to an end

UK Nationals Support Project draws to an end. With the United Kingdom leaving the European Union, British citizens living in EU countries are required to update their Residency Documents, in line with the Withdrawal Agreement, to ensure the regularization of their situation.

In this context, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been providing support to UK Nationals who may find it harder to complete their residency applications to secure and maintain their residency rights in several EU countries, including Portugal.

This project was funded through the UK Nationals Support Fund (UKNSF by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and in Portugal will end on the 31st of December. The project was carried out in close collaboration with the High Commission for Migration (ACM) and the British Embassy in Lisbon.

IOM Portugal will be receiving queries from UK nationals covered by the project until the 26th of November to allow for the cases to be addressed by the end of the project, on 31 December 2021.

The project website (www.uknationalspt.com), containing useful information regarding the residency requirements for UK nationals in Portugal will be accessible online until January 2022. Since April 2020, IOM team supported 853 UK nationals in Portugal.

With the UK Nationals Support Fund closure, UK nationals who are struggling and need support are advised to contact the Immigration and Border Service (21 711 50 45; [email protected]), or the High Commission for Migration (808 257 257 or 21 810 61 91).
