A TAP plane engine suffered a technical problem, causing an explosion which prevented the aircraft from taking off at Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon.
The incident did not result in any injuries. According to information from ANA, Portugal’s airport authority, the occurrence forced the disruption of other take-offs and landings at Humberto Delgado airport for 30 minutes, between 3:14 pm and 3:45 pm. The TAP flight to Venice was scheduled for 15.25, and was changed to 19.15, on a replacement plane.
“TAP confirms that the Airbus A320 flying TP862 from Lisbon to Venice had a technical engine failure during the start of the take-off process, which was immediately dealt with by the pilot’s team,” a TAP official revealed.
“There were no consequences for the passengers on board who will travel on another airline flight,” the airline concluded.
