New motorhome park opens in São Marcos da Serra

A new motorhome park has opened in the rural village of São Marcos da Serra in Silves.

It boasts 22 parking spaces and a service station with drinkable water, a dump station for the disposal of the vehicle’s wastewater, electric chargers and rubbish bins.

The park was built on a 2,000sqm plot of land and represented a €137,000 investment, partly covered by community funding.

Silves council says that the new motorhome park will pull more holidaymakers to the small town by giving them the adequate conditions to do so.

This is the latest good news for motorhomers in the Algarve, following the announcement that Alcoutim council plans to build a new motorhome park in the town by the end of April 2020.

The Algarve’s tourism board (RTA) has been “hard at work” to make sure motorhomers feel welcome in the region whilst also encouraging them to park up at official camp and caravan sites in a bid to bring an end to illegal camping and parking.

There are around 30 sites in the Algarve where motorhomers can park legally, including campsites, motorhome parks and service areas, all of which can be found online at www.autocaravanalgarve.com
