Despite a general warning from the National Maritime Authority not to swim in the sea (HERE), a corpse was found by tourists on Monday, at Meia Praia, Lagos, reports Faro’s District Relief Operations Command.
The alert was received at 3:27 pm. A medical emergency team, Lagos bombeiros, the Maritime Authority were soon at the scene but the victim had been in the water for around two days.
“The Emergency Medical and Resuscitation unit of the INEM certified the death,” added the Command spokesman.
The same source also stated that the victim was “aged between 60 and 70 years and was of unknown nationality.”
The authorities now are investigating the circumstances in which the drowning happened.
