Infarmed have sent out a warning regarding the existence of two illegal websites for the sale of medicines aimed at the Portuguese public, highlighting the risks to health as it is not possible to ensure the safety, quality and authenticity of products sold by these unauthorized entities.
In a note published on the Infarmed website, the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed) says that he remedioseguros.com and pt.treated.com websites, which appear very professional and official looking, are not domiciled in Portugal and they are not authorised for the sale of medicines by regulatory authorities in the European Union.
“If the Portuguese intend to purchase medicines over the internet, they must do so through the authorised means for this”, warn Infarmed.
In Portugal, only pharmacies and non-prescription drug sales outlets authorised by Infarmed can sell drugs to the public through the internet.
Infarmed recommends that citizens seek advice from their doctor before taking any medication.
