100loule partyAn illegal party with more than 200 people in attendance was stopped by the GNR of Loulé, in Almancil, in the Central Algarve, as the current laws and rules of social distancing and caps on gathering due to the COVID-19 pandemic were not being complied with. The party took place on Sunday evening.

The authorities had already recommended to the unnamed organization not to hold the event, which was publicized over social media. With the location to be released just 12 hours before the start of the event, GNR were able to locate the party and investigate it.

“The promoters of the event were previously alerted by the GNR to the measures in force due to the pandemic and warned not to hold the party. In addition, the Health Authority was asked to give an opinion on it, which was also negative, as they were not taking all the preventive, protective and safety measures required for such an event “, explains the GNR in a statement.

According to police, “the event was widely publicized by the organizing company on social networks, with the entrance exclusive to customers with table reservation and the location transmitted only 12 hours before its start, with several guest artists invited”.

In addition to the non-compliance with the rules of social distancing, “the event did not have a Special Noise License issued by the Municipality of Loulé, which is why an administrative offense report was also issued”.

The event organizers were identified and information forwarded to the Loulé Judicial Court.
