Faro Airport welcomes record-breaking 9 million passengers in 2019
Faro Airport received for the first time just over 9 million passengers throughout last year, according to ANA- Aeroportos de Portugal.
The milestone was announced at the end of last month, with ANA stating that it is a “result from the synergies between partners, entities and the airport community that strive to ensure daily improvement of air accessibility in the Algarve region and quality passenger service.”
The record number of passengers going in and out of the region represents a traffic increase of one million passengers between 2017 and 2019.
In this context, it seems that the recent investments made by ANA (which oversees the airport operations) with the aim of increasing passenger processing capacity, refurbishing the terminals, and bettering the strategic cooperation with the various entities working in the airport, have paid off.
Faro Airport has been the catalyst for much regional and national development over the last three decades, which has allowed it to assert itself as the main gateway to the Algarve region.
