Fans unable to vote for Portugal in Eurovision

Fans across Europe have been unable to vote for Portugal in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2019.

Conan Osíris failed to advance to the Grand Final on Saturday with his performance of Telemóveis.

Osíris was one of seven artists eliminated from the Contest on Tuesday’s first semi-final.

There have been complaints from fans on social media that they were unable to call in and support Conan. Several viewers from outside of Portugal claimed that they could not call the number allocated to the Portuguese entry.

In the Facebook group “TUGAvision”, many fans have shared the error messages sent by mobile operators.

Similar posts were made on the OGAE Portugal website, reporting error messages received by viewers in Spain. These reports have been passed on to the Portuguese Head of Delegation.

Yesterday’s semi-final had one of the closest results in recent years. Executive Supervisor of the EBU, Jon Ola Sand has confirmed that only two points separated the last qualifier and the first country to miss the cut.

The full results of the semi-final, which will reveal Portugal’s placing, will be released after the Grand Final of the contest on Saturday.

Who is Conan Osíris?

Conan Osíris represented Portugal in Tel Aviv with the song Telemóveis. Conan was born in Lisbon in 1989 and has been performing since 2011.

From the moment that the song was revealed as competing in the Portuguese selection, Conan was the favourite to win. The song went viral ahead of the Grand Final, with his performance in semi-final one receiving nearly 2 million views in two weeks.
