Covid-19: Latest update in Portugal

COVID-19: LATEST UPDATE IN PORTUGALAt the end of yesterday, Portugal again recorded a slight reduction in the number of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, with 941 cases, and three deaths associated with Covid-19, according to the Directorate-General for Health.

Today’s epidemiological bulletin indicates that there are 16 more people in the hospital ward, now totalling 405, and two less in the intensive care units, where there are 97 sick people due to the disease.

More than half of the new cases of infection (641) continue to be registered in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, where one of the three deaths occurred. The other two deaths were registered in the central region.

The incidence of infection with SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal exceeded 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the national transmissibility index (Rt) rose from 1.12 to 1.14, according to official data released on Friday. ( R(t) and incidence data are updated on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.)

The number of contacts under surveillance increased to 1,189 in the last 24 hours and now reaches 38,890 people.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 17,065 people have died in Portugal with Covid-19 and 865,050 cases of infection by SARS-CoV-2 have been registered.
