Boat with bales of hashish found on Faro Island

Maritime Police personnel have confiscated 58 bales of hashish near Faro Island.

The Olhão division seized a vessel with 58 bales of hashish on board.

An alert was received at 06:30 when a local phoned through the information that a drg-laden boat was on the sand.

Police, “found the vessel on the sand, without any crew on board and with bales of hashish stowed inside. After all the necessary steps were taken, the vessel was towed with the hashish bundles inside, to the commercial port of Faro, where they were unloaded.”

The bales were then handed over to the Judiciary Police, which is responsible for investigating.

UPDATE – an ‘illegal foreigner’ was arrested on Friday, 31st May, in connection with the abandoned drug boat
