Salvadoran President Salvador Sanchez Ceren fell ill on Monday during a visit to Mexico, forcing him to miss the start of the Ibero-American summit, his office said.
The 70-year-old Central American leader had a “slight” malaise and decided to rest, sending his foreign minister to take his place at the start of the summit, his office said in a statement.
Officials did not give details about the illness or indicate whether he would rejoin the talks in the port of Veracruz before the summit ends Tuesday.
