Beja Airport has a customer

The congestion at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport has become a nightmare for some operators which are waiting for the ‘second airport’ deliberations to finish and for work to start at the Montijo Air Base to ease the pressure on the capital’s single airport.

In April, travel industry news service, Publituris, spoke with several tour operators which said that the current conditions of the airport infrastructure at Humberto Delgado will be the main problem for airlines this summer.

Most airlines say that, until a new airport is available, it will be necessary for all airports to extend operating hours. This will allow airlines to run additional flights, even if the hours are not passenger-friendly.
