Suspected recruiters of Iraq insurgents detained

PARIS, Jan 17, 2006 (AFP) – Six people were detained in France on Tuesday as part of a probe into a group suspected of recruiting insurgents to fight in Iraq, according to a source close to the investigation.

The suspects, four men and two women, were detained in or near the southern city of Montpellier, the source said.

Three of the four men were Moroccans and the fourth was French.

Several other people have been detained in connection with the investigation which has been ongoing since 2004, the source said.
