Danger storm alert for southern France

MARSEILLE, France, Oct 25 (AFP) – “Dangerous” weather in the form of storms and heavy rain were to hit southern France late Monday, the national weather service said in an alert.

Gathering clouds were to unleash a downpour that would continue all through the night and into early Tuesday for much of the French Riviera and its hilly back country, Meteo France warned in an “orange” bulletin just one level lower than its maximum “red” alert.

“Dangerous meteorological phenomena are forecast,” it said, urging residents in the region to monitor weather reports and follow authorities’ instructions.
