Technip wins Emirates offshore contract

French oil services group Technip announced Tuesday it had secured a contract to develop an oil field offshore from Abu Dhabi.

The UZ 750 project is one of the major offshore field development projects in the United Arab Emirates.

The project aims at increasing by 2015 the oil production of the Upper Zakum field in the Gulf, 84 kilometers (52 miles) offshore from Abu Dhabi to 750,000 barrels of oil per day and for at least 25 years, the company said in a statement.

Technip, which gave no cost for the contract, will design process units on four artificial islands, including gas separation and power generation as well as interconnecting pipelines.

The contract was awarded by ZADCO, a joint venture company between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, US energy giant ExxonMobil and the Japan Oil Development Company.
