Swiss, Dutch airliners in near miss over France

GENEVA, Feb 18 (AFP) – The airline Swiss on Wednesday reported that one of its planes narrowly missed colliding with an aircraft from the Dutch company KLM over France.

It said the KLM plane and the Swiss airliner, traveling from New York to Zurich, “came close together” in French airspace near the eastern city of Reims, Swiss said in a statement.

“Thanks to the swift response of both crews and the onboard warning systems, the incident passed without consequence,” it said. “Swiss has reported the incident to the relevant authorities.”

“The French authorities are investigating how it was possible for the two aircraft to come close to one another.”
