Sarkozy goes jogging after handing over power

Shortly after leaving the Elysee Palace on Tuesday, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy went jogging in Paris’s Bois de Boulogne park near the chic neighbourhood where he now lives.

Right-wing politician Sarkozy left the Elysee Palace with his wife Carla Bruni on Tuesday morning, handing the reins of power to Socialist Francois Hollande who beat him in a May 6 run-off election.

He was then photographed running with bodyguards in the Bois de Boulogne, wearing a striped blue and white top, white shorts, black socks and silver trainers as Hollande was sworn in at the Elysee.

Sarkozy has said he wants to spend some time with his former supermodel wife and baby daughter after a gruelling campaign.
