PARIS, Feb 26 (AFP) – French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said on Thursday that new conditions surrounding global institutions meant that the United Nations and World Trade Organisation would have to be reformed.
Raffarin told the association of economic journalists here that emergence of new conditions for governing global issues “requires reform of the UN and will require reform of the WTO”.
He also said in an apparent reference to disagreements in Europe over Iraq:
“If Europe does not hold together it will be absent (from the stage) and divided, as was the case recently.”
