PARIS, Aug 25 (AFP) – French television anchorman Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, one of the most recognised faces in France, reveals the existence of a 10-year-old child with his weekend counterpart Claire Chazal in a book to be published on August 31, French media reported on Thursday.
Rumors that Poivre d’Arvor, the key evening news presenter for France’s private channel TF1 and who is nicknamed PPDA, and Chazal are having an affair have been part of the French celebrity gossip for years.
The revelation of the son François Chazal Poivre d’Arvor is contained in ‘Confessions’, a book of interviews with French journalist Serge Raffy, extracts of which are published in the magazine Paris-Match and Thursday’s editions of Le Parisien and France Soir.
“We had set at 10 the time that this story…would be revealed to others,” d’Arvor said, saying the son was aware of and happy with the story.
D’Arvor has been married for several years to his wife Véronique, with whom he has four daughters.
PPDA is also known for his alter ego, the puppet PPD, which is the news anchor in the satirical show ‘Les Guignols de l’Info’ (‘The News Puppets’) on the channel Canal+.
