Paris pupils expelled for anti-Semitism

PARIS, Dec 17 (AFP) – Two 11 year-old French boys of North African origin were expelled from a top Paris school Wednesday for bullying a Jewish classmate.

The unnamed Jewish boy “was the victim over the course of several weeks of physical and verbal violence of an anti-Semitic nature, necessitating medical care,” according to the parents’ association at the Montaigne college in the Latin quarter.

When the affair was first revealed two weeks ago the boy’s parents complained that no sanction had been taken against the two perpetrators.

In the northern city of Lille two boys aged 14 and 15 were given a formal warning by their school after they cast insults at a Rabbi in the street in early December.
