Paris air traffic controllers strike Wednesday

PARIS, Feb 10 (AFP) – Air traffic controllers at Paris’ Orly airport have called a strike for Wednesday that could result in major flight disruptions, airport officials said.

The stoppage, from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm (0500 GMT to 2230 GMT), may also cause some delays at the city’s other main airport, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, they said.

The air traffic controllers are protesting a reorganisation of the way the airspace over Paris is handled.

Talks between their unions and France’s civil aviation authority collapsed Tuesday, and the strike call was launched soon afterwards.

Orly airport mostly handles domestic and European flights while Charles de Gaulle is the main facility for international flights.
