PARIS, March 12 (AFP) – Palestinian prime minister Ahmed Qorei, who is visiting France, has restated his agreement for an international peace force in Gaza after a possible Israeli withdrawal, the foreign ministry in Paris said.
“There is wide agreement (between France and the Palestinians) on this concept,” said spokesman Herve Ladsous.
French diplomats also said there were signs of movement towards a re-launching of the so-called roadmap, the peace plan of the US, the EU, the UN and Russia. “Things are moving,” one diplomat said.
Israeli Prime Minister Aril Sharon has recommended evacuating settlements in the Gaza Strip so that Israel can redraw its territory behind more secure lines.
