LYON, France, Jan 14 (AFP) – Rescue workers said that a preliminary search early Wednesday had revealad no casualties after a mudslide hit chalets in a village in Central France.
Local residents had sounded the alarm after the overnight slide of rocks and mud hit the village of Egravats near the Mont-Dore ski resort in Massif Central.
Sniffer dogs and other specialist equipment were rushed to the area but a local official said that most of the 30 chalets in the hamlet were unoccupied at the time. Four of them sustained some damage.
