An elderly British couple have died after being struck by a motorcycle while vacationing in southern France, police said Wednesday.
The motorcycle hit the couple — a 71-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman — on Tuesday around 11:10 pm (2110 GMT) as they crossed a road on a bridge in the town of Mandelieu-la-Napoule on the French Riviera, police said.
The motorcycle driver, a man in his fifties, was also seriously injured in the accident and was being treated in hospital in Nice.
The cause of the accident was unclear, police said, and tests were being conducted to determine if the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
