LE HAVRE, France, Feb 17 (AFP) – A Mongolian refugee accused of killing a government minister in his home country was kidnapped by Mongolian special agents in northwest France last year, a French regional newspaper said in an article to appear Wednesday.
Damiran Enkhbat, 43, a Mongolian refugee in France, was snatched on May 14, 2003 in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant in the French port of Le Havre by four Mongolian secret service agents, the newspaper Le Havre Presse said.
It said they took Enkhbat back to Mongolia on a plane from Berlin.
German judicial authorities in the city of Karlsruhe called for international assistance in the case on November 4, 2003, the paper said.
Damiran Enkhbat is accused in his country of killing the infrastructure minister on October 2, 1998. He is today in prison in Avdrant, about 140 kilometers (85 miles) from the capital Ulan Bator.
The Mongolian embassy in France and the French foreign ministry refused to comment on the report when contacted by Le Havre Presse, the newspaper said.
