Marseille shows coach Perrin the door

MARSEILLE, France, Jan 14 (AFP) – Alain Perrin has quit as coach of French first division side Marseille and been replaced by the team’s youth coach Jose Anigo, the club announced Wednesday.

“I’ve decided to appoint a new coach. It’s Jose Anigo and he’ll be the new coach from tomorrow,” club president Christophe Bouchet confirmed.

After a bright start Perrin had come under fire following a string of poor results with the club notching up nine defeats in their last 15 games, leaving them sixth in the league, 15 points behind leaders Monaco.

Perrin, 47, joined the south coast side in 2002.
