United Kingdom Jailed 1980s French terrorist refused parole
PARIS, April 9 (AFP) - French judicial authorities on Friday dismissed an application by urban guerrilla Nathalie Menigon, a member of the left-wing movement Action Directe serving two life sentences for kidnapping and murder, to be released on health grounds.
Menigon, 47, was jailed for her part in a series of attacks which shook France in the 1980s, notably the abduction in Paris and murder of Georges Besse, the head of the state car manufacturer Renault, in November 1986.
She and three accomplices were also also convicted of killing the chief engineer of the French army, Rene Audran, near Paris in January 1985, and of the attempted murders of other senior military brass and leading businessmen.
Menigon has cardio-vascular problems, is partly paralyzed and suffers from depression. Her application for release from prison was rejected a first time in November last year.
