METZ, France, Feb 1 (AFP) – French customs officers detained 15 illegal migrants from China after they were found hiding in a van during a routine motorway control, officials said Tuesday.
Customs officials said the van which was stopped at a toll booth Sunday between the northeastern cities of Metz and Strasbourg carried a German license plate.
The driver told investigators he came from Berlin and was to take the group to Paris for EUR 100 (USD 130) each.
Eight Chinese and their driver had been detained in the same area after a similar check on January 17.
