BEIJING – France on Sunday successfully defended their men’s team sabre fencing title at the Beijing Olympics with a 45-37 victory against the US, who claimed the silver medal.
The victory for the French, who four years ago defeated Hungary in the gold medal match, sees Julien Pillet winning a third Olympic sabre medal.
He already has gold from Athens, as well as silver from Sydney.
The bronze medal went to Italy, who beat Russia 45-44 in a tight match.
