PARIS, Jan 26 (AFP) – France on Monday dropped its terror alert rating one notch to its lowest level “given the actual assessment of the threat to the national territory,” Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin’s office said.
Security will remain reinforced at airports and train stations after the decision to set the Vigipirate scale at yellow, the lowest on a four-level scale running from yellow to orange, red and scarlet.
The alert level had been raised to orange on December 1 because of general insecurity worldwide ahead of end-of-year celebrations.
The French alert was also set at orange from May 17 to early October, after 45 people were killed in suicide attacks in Casablanca, Morocco on May 16.
