Easyjet opens London-Mulhouse link

MULHOUSE, France, Feb 12 (AFP) – The British low-cost airline Easyjet will begin daily flights on March 28 between London Stansted and EuroAirport, which serves the Swiss city of Basel, Mulhouse in France and Fribourg in Germany, EuroAirport said Thursday.

“EuroAiport and Easyjet are continuing negotiations with the aim of signing a long-term contract that could substantially increase the volume of passenger traffic out of EuroAirport,” it said.

If the British airline agreed to start flying out of EuroAirport and charges fares fixed by the current system, it would qualify to set new fares later, the airport said.

The number of passengers using EuroAirport plunged by 19 percent, from 3.058 million in 2002 to 2.490 million last year, after the collapse of Swissair.
