EADS to name Enders, Trichet to senior posts: report

The board of European aerospace giant EADS is to confirm the nomination of German Tom Enders as chief executive, and name former ECB chief Jean-Claude Trichet as a board member, a press report said Thursday.

French financial daily Les Echos said the board would respect a Franco-German accord from 2007, which also involves French industrialist Arnaud Lagardere taking the post of board president, replacing German Boddo Uebber.

Trichet is to take the seat vacated by Lagardere, the report said.

Enders’ current post as head of the aircraft maker Airbus, the biggest EADS division, is to be given to another Frenchman, Fabrice Bregier.

“Barring a last-minute surprise, that is what is going to happen,” the newspaper wrote.

The nominations must be approved by a shareholders general assembly in May.

EADS is a private company in which the French, German and Spanish governments own substantial direct and indrect stakes.
