De Villepin cancels trips ahead of reshuffle

PARIS, March 30 (AFP) – French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin has postponed trips to Haiti and Germany amid the political uncertainty following regional elections, the foreign ministry said Tuesday.

De Villepin had been planning to travel to Berlin on Wednesday for a two-day conference on the reconstruction of Afghanistan, and to fly to Haiti on Thursday.

French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin was expected to announce a new cabinet line-up on Wednesday, following the governing centre-right’s defeat by the Socialists in Sunday’s vote.
