Biker family try to lynch French death crash driver

MARSEILLE, France, Jan 16 (AFP) – A motorist whose car collided with a motorbike in Marseille had to be saved by firemen called to the scene when angry relatives of the rider killed in the accident tried to lynch him, fire officers said Sunday.

Up to 30 family members of the 20-year-old motorbike, who was riding a powerful machine without a helmet in the southern French city, hammered on the driver’s car in an attempt to drag him out and assault him, firemen said.

They added that, when they intervened to save the driver’s life, they were jostled and insulted by the mob, who had to be held back by police while the motorbike’s body was taken to the morgue.
