Air France strike grounds Paris flights
PARIS, Feb 27 (AFP) - More than a dozen Air France flights at Paris's two main airports were cancelled Friday after flight attendants with the company went on strike to protest cabin staff cutbacks on short- and long-haul routes, airport officials said.
Minor delays were also being experienced, the officials said, adding that passengers affected were being transferred to other flights without any problems.
The flight attendants oppose an Air France plan to cut in-flight service on its shorter routes to better compete with low-cost carriers cutting into its marketshare.
Around 450 of the airline’s 14,000 attendants are to be moved over to reinforce staffing on long-haul international flights.
