Air France flight in false bomb alert scare

MILAN, March 26 (AFP) – An Air France plane en route from Pisa in Italy to Paris landed at Milan’s Malpensa airport early Friday after a false alarm concerning a suspect baggage item on board, police sources said.

“Italian authorities asked that the plane make an emergency landing in Milan following an anonymous phone call concerning a dangerous piece of luggage on board,” an Air France spokesman said.

“Checks were made on all the passengers and their luggage and they proved fruitless. It was a false alert.”

A police official at Milan airport said authorities were investigating the incident.
