Air France cuts seat prices for obese flyers

PARIS, Jan 27 (AFP) – Air France said Thursday it was cutting prices for obese passengers who were required to buy tickets for two seats on flights, effective February 1.

The cost of buying two seats next to each other would be reduced by 25 percent for the second seat on short- and medium-haul routes operated by Air France and its subsidiaries, and by up to 33 percent on long-haul flights, the company said in a statement.

The discount would also be applied to other passengers who needed two seats for other reasons, such as carrying hefty video cameras or musical instruments, for medical reasons, or simply to have more room to stretch out.
