Dortmund likely to retain licence

1 March 2004

FRANKFURT – Borussia Dortmund will probably not face licensing problems for the next season despite a huge deficit in the first half of their current fiscal year, the German Football League said on Monday.

“We are mainly looking at liquidity, and that is guaranteed for this season,” said the DFL finance managing director Christian Mueller.

Dortmund revealed last Friday in the balance 1 July 31 December 2003, that it had amounted losses of EUR 29.4 million.

Mueller said a final assessment – and possible licence conditions for the club – will be made after Dortmund (like all other clubs) have handed in their documents by a 15 March deadline.
