WASHINGTON – US Secretary of State Colin Powell will travel to Berlin later this month to attend an international gathering on Afghanistan, the State Department said Wednesday.
The conference on Afghanistan’s political and economic future is scheduled for 31 March and 1 April and is a follow up to earlier meetings aimed at bolstering international support for Afghanistan.
After the conference, Powell will head to Brussels to meet with NATO foreign minister to mark the formal accession of the alliance’s seven new members, the State Department said.
Powell is expected to return to Washington on 2 April.
