WARSAW – Four Poles suspected of smuggling people from Poland into Germany are facing up to eight years each in prison after being detained by Polish border guards Tuesday, reports said.
In exchange for USD 400 per person (EUR 336) the men are alleged to have arranged passage across the Oder river into Germany, mainly for Ukrainians, Chechens and Asian migrants, Poland’s PAP new agency reported.
Polish border guards believe that since last year the group smuggled some 300 people into Germany. More arrests were expected.
