More Germans taking foreigners as partners

WIESBADEN, GERMANY – More Germans are taking a foreigner as a partner, according to statistics released Tuesday which showed that such couples make up 6.3 per cent of all households in Germany.

The Federal Statistics Office said there were 1.3 million couples where one of the partners was German and the other foreign living in Germany last year, an 84 per cent increase over a decade ago.

Surveyed were married couples and couples living together in a heterosexual or same-sex relationship.
