20 January 2004

BERLIN – Scores of mourners turned out at Berlin’s Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church Tuesday for memorial services for Princess Kira of Prussia – Kaiser Wilhelm II’s great-granddaughter.

European nobility and representatives of the former German imperial House of Hohenzollern were on hand for the ceremonies, led by George Frederick, the Prince of Prussia. Others included Lady Antonia Douro, future Duchess of Wellington.

Also taking part were the late princess’s brothers princes Andrew and Rupert of Prussia, according to a spokesman for the former Prussian royal household.

The princess, the second daughter of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia and his consort, Russian Archduchess Kira Kirillovna, died 10 January in Berlin following a long illness.

Burial will follow at Hohenzollern Castle in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
